What he said.

I'm largely at a loss here on this.

Fine, take the report for truth. I can accept this. So, Iran isn't doing it now. They were doing it up to, say, 2003 then, and maybe even as recently as 2005. They are still making enriched uranium. I wonder why?

Why isn't anyone paying attention to what has been clearly stated in the most recent report?

Why doesn't anyone take some of what Acnefacedjihad has said, during this same period, at face value?

If the shrieking idiots, (again) call for Bush's impeachment, over this, I swear, I may be forced to start the killing early. What about the timeline to this whole thing do they NOT understand? What about the capabilities of that tyrannical regime do they not get? By all means, if the morons want to play all nicey-nice with Mahmoud, have at it. Honestly, I don't give a flying fuck what the "diplomatic" course du jour is for this month. Do it, get all of the face time you want, say all of the spin-doctor BS that you want, loud and clear. Fuzzy bunnies, peace/love/dope. Whatever. Just keep the big guns trained on the proper target, will ya?

Yes, by all means, go long on bomb shelters...and ammo.

We now know they have/had a program. It sounds like Bush's invasion in Iraq may have persuaded them, that trying to build nukes would not be the best idea at the time.

As for impeachment, impeachment for what?

chrisb,

Yes, exactly for what is right.

I'm not much of a Bush fan, for sure, but I can just hear the nattering of the morons on this issue. Once they've got something in their head about Bush being wrong, it's almost always followed by the word 'impeach'.

I'm not much of one to claim causality on this and that, but I'm thinking that the Islamic Republic of Iran took a good hard look at stuff during our "invasion" of their neighbor and decided they needed to cool their heels a bit.

I'm suspicious of dirty tricks from moles in the State Dept. In case you didn't catch this already, So is Bolton.

Dirt,

Bolton is my kinda guy. All business, all the time, and doesn't talk soft, or 'go-around' a topic, at all. Tell it like it is.

Little could surprise me about the shenanigans occurring at any sort of diplomatic level, honestly. Diplomats are paid liars, as that's their job, hold a certain line and do it because you're told to by whomever.

Bolton is suggesting that the intelligence report is little different than it was two or even four years ago (which begs certain questions about what's really changed), and that the NIE doesn't delineate any path of action on putting diplomatic pressure on the Iranian regime, past nor present. No big shocker to me, really.

The fact that it's being made a media spectacle is the most troubling aspect of the whole bit, as the slime conspiracy we call "media" has a penchant for attempting to hang anyone with an "R" associated to his/her name, just so they can keep their Donkophile street cred.

Fine, I say, we can play by their rules if we have to. We can put on the dog-and-pony show up front and get back to real espionage work out back. All done the way it's supposed to be done.
