My new Holiday
Come June 12th, I'm going to pull the Mustang out of the garage, check that it's full of Mobil 1 10W-30, and let the fucker run for at least an hour in my drive. Just because I can.
Really, I want the Medieval, Pagan worshipping fucktards to make some kind of statement...IN MY FRONT LAWN about this.
I need some target practice.

I'll have to remember to run my Austrian two-stroke on that day, KTM rules! And for target practice, you've got an AR don't you? If not you better get one before the Admin goes all LiberalCrazeeePie...
Actually, I don't have an AR, of any sort!?!
It's a HUGE hole in my armory, and one that I'm currently trying to fill. Most of that is contingent on the recently returned Kraut getting back into the fully-employed field, as the mortgage must be paid by someone, and it's currently, obviously, ME! Alone.
That's left precious little scratch left for acquisitionage, and there is a mostly-built AK carbine that must be finished before the AR is bought/built.
I'm lusting for something along the lines that you have, a purpose-built, small company type rig, but I know the budget will only allow a more cost effective, utilitarian oriented poodleshooter. I guy can dream, can't he?
Anyway, I'm looking at a Bushy Patrol Carbine, maybe something from DPMS too, but it's definitely coming from "off the rack" configurations. Nothing custom.
The AK will be neat, I think, when done. A few parts here and there to increase the poor ergonomics, a light, forend rail to hang it on and a forward grip. Tac-mag latch is already installed, the sights are going to be a combination of a new XS Express Tritium unit (for AKs, even) and a some sort of Red Dot on a QD base, mounted forward of the rear iron.
It's gotten its paint job already, and I think it's pretty sharp.
Looking at a couple of other loose ends to make it a bit more "whole", but am unsure about the best method(s) for doing so.
I have a good source for the 5.45 ammo, locally even, and it's quite affordable, too. The recoil is next to non-existant too, so putting a novice on it will be easy.
I'm looking forward to posting on it when I completed.
Dude, you have to get an AR or 12 post haste! Just think how much it will be worth on the black market if Barry actually wins in November!
chrisb,
I hate to be a downer about this, but in my estimation, Mr.HopeChange has it all won already.
I know it must come as a shock to all who are hopeful of the Manchurian Candidate somehow pulling off a victory against that empty suit across the aisle. But there lies the problem, Sen. McCain is himself a closet socialist, and I can NOT bring myself to vote for (or even against his adversaries, by way of pulling the lever with his name, YMMV) him.
We are viewing a door closing right now, and one I fear we will never again see the other side of, regardless of who is sitting in the White House come January. It's going to be a landslide for the DONKS on the legislative side (shocker) too, so whatever dipshit bills get put on the desk of the next idiot in the Whore House will undoubtedly be rubber-stamped. And McCain is one of those "Mavericks", who supposedly is A-OK with "making deals" with those blue scum in Congress. Consider his hideously unconstitutional "Campaign Finance Reform" bullshit.
Seriously, we couldn't have picked a WORSE candidate from the Republican bunch, and that is saying something, considering the losers they fielded.
Thompson was the ONLY one who gave me pause for consideration, and he gave up after only a few weeks of campaigning, with poor results.
The whole thing is just a big shit sandwich, and situation is devolving at a rate that can NOT be stopped. We are seeing the LAST of our remaining civil liberties being legislated to file 13...and we are ALLOWING IT TO HAPPEN.
The Left thinks that ALL of the bad shit in the world is the fault of the US, specifically GW and his "right-wing, grassroots supporters" or some other mythical demon, and they are hell-bent on preaching to us, like Barry said, that we are angry, and cling to religion, and guns. They want to take away all guns from civilians, since THAT will somehow, magically even, turn all men into brothers, or some other ROT. Then those same nutjobs want to wail and scream about how much they stand behine "Free Speech", only to openly favor dipshit stuff like McCain-Feingold. Do these folks have enough mental power to figure these things out? And I'm just suppose to lay down, 'cuz their "right"?
Meanwhile, you DO have George effectively suspending Posse Comitatus, and then there's that BS Patriot Act nonsense, the TSA wanting us all to strip to our bare asses, so we can all be saved from the terrorists on the plane scenario.
BAH!!!
Politicians, one and all, can just go to Hell. I don't need any of them.
I wish others would wake up to the same realization.
I am close, but disagree a bit. McCain sucks, that is obvious, but at the same time he is better than Obama. That is all I can vote for right now. Yes it sucks, but it is what it is.
As for Obama winning, I may be deluding myself, but I think McCain may just slaughter him a la McGovern or Dukakis.
I just can't see McCain gaining anything other than geriatric votes.
True conservatives hate him (but most seem to be hedging toward voting for him anyway, FWIW), and anyone who appreciates his stance on issues that actually matter tend to hate him, and those who despise politicians with a Napoleonic Authoritarian Complex REALLY HATE HIM. That'd be ME.
The bulk of the citizenry, from my perspective, have fallen for the empty rhetoric of the Messianistic One, convinced that he'll lead us all to the Promised Land, or something.
No kidding here, he's extremely popular with educated and thin-witted people in equal parts. My dad, who's an MBA and is probably one of the most literate persons I know, thinks the world of him. I get queasy every time he talks politics. The whole "Universal Healthcare" bit is enough for the truly stupid to fall for, every time. They don't care that they're reaping the benefits of a system that openly steals from others. They're getting something for "FREE!!!", and they like it that way.
Anyway, I can appreciate your position, but I just can't find the nerve to actually vote for Johnny Mac. Sorry.
