Feeling older than I am, for now, but that's just my bias.

I'd like to be in a bit better shape, not that it's poor at all. Getting the gut checked next month should be key in stepping up my routine. I'd like to try the local marathon next fall, assuming the country can make it that long.

However, they're missing the real travesty of the situation, by nodding their heads at what follows;

Missing the point, Part II

It isn't the how or the why of doing the wiping, and it isn't the "Ewwww!" factor.

It's entirely about the sanitary factor involved.

Sanitary wiping via TP has been an almost immesurable factor in reducing person-to-person pathogen proliferation, leading to longer, healthier lives.

End of story.

BTW, there's a certain text of a certain religion that proscribes the use of the right hand for doing the wiping. That hand is for eating, the left is for wiping. It's for a reason, and it's plain as day as to why.

Considering war

I challenge anyone to find where this bit wouldn't apply;

I have an equally rational solution

While reading that link (H/T to Billy), I was digesting the particulars, attempting to piece together the comment of permanant Donk control of Congress with the points given regarding marginal and implicit marginal tax rates, when the whole of problem hit me.

It's this;

I, of course, have long been of the opinion that killing most every politician in this country, in a rather public way, would go a long way toward striking the necessary fear into the hearts of the would-be tyrants, except that most people are far too squeemish about seeing blood running in the gutter while watching CNN.

I suppose that my equally rational response is to switch the target from the rulers to the enablers, which, given the current and near term circumstances (the U.S. quickly turning into a third-world country), would be far more feasible, and much more low key. The only question being then, would the fucktards ever get a clue.

Probably not.

Paintings, Russian suffering and interesting tidbits

I was reading some of my usual haunts this morning when I ran across this post at Billy Beck's place.

I've always been somewhat fascinated with Russia (in the cultural sense only, as Billy also alludes to in his title, Russians - not Soviets), as there have been almost countless wars, the worst weather imaginable, cross-cultural incursions of all sorts for literally thousands of years and, of course, the iron political fist foisted upon the general populace over time. Still, the culture manages to do more than merely exist, but instead thrives, possibly due to the hardships.

I turn to the paintings in his link.


About half way through, I run across the Blinkov painting Fire of the Guard artillery. Those trucks are a pretty faithful rendering of the actual vehicles, lend-lease Studebaker US6 cab-and-chassis, hauling Katyushka rocket launchers.

Some of those trucks are probably still in service in Asia, in one capacity or other.

Interesting to see that, I thought.

I'll tell you why the "Intervention" was done.
